About

Claire Paterson is a contemporary painter and graduate of the Glasgow School of Art. This blog has been created to document and share her experiences of winning the Steven Campbell New York Scholarship, a project that’s being funded by The Saltire Society, Creative Scotland, and The Steven Campbell Trust. Claire will use the scholarship to undertake a 3 month residency at the International Studio and Curatorial Programme (ISCP) in New York, where she will be given the opportunity to work alongside dozens of artists from all over the world.

Over the next few months, she’ll post updates and discuss the ins-and-outs of the project: showing work she’s already made in relation to the scholarship; the work & ideas of artists from the US who have agreed to collaborate; and her favourite paintings by Steven Campbell – looking into some of the themes he was particularly interested in. In addition, she’s hoping this blog can act as a forum for discussion with other artists, models, and anyone else who wishes to participate.
